#britainsfatfight

And remember to watch it tonight at 9pm on BBCone.
Where Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has a surprise for you in the latest episode of Britain's Fat Fight.

But I bet they don't mention this one fact...

That you don't have to massively overweight to become Type2 Diabetic. In fact, many people might have it right now and not realise it. Due to the misconception that the condition is only for large people.

As Professor Roy puts it:

"Some individuals will have type 2 diabetes with a BMI only just above the normal range"

And as research is finding out for some:
"BMI, which is typically used to define normal weight or overweight in a clinical setting, may misclassify populations in relation to Abnormal Blood Glucose". (ABG)
What is much more important is percentage of body fat (%BF).
And where that fat is.... Rather than your weight. And your own personal fat threshold. Again the newest research is proving that ...
"Integrating BMI with %BF can help in classification to direct screening and prevention efforts to a group currently considered low risk of ABG and avoid the stigmatisation of other groups that are classified as high risk of ABG".

So having Type2Diabetes might not be really about Britain's Fat Fight.

But it's a start. The more we can start changing people's lives the better.
We can together STOP TYPE 2 DIABETES.
Here's to you and your journey.
